Old Letters to Santa
     
             1910
The following are from "The News Leader," Richmond, Va., Saturday Afternoon,
December 10, 1910 issue, page 5.

Watch out the first one seems to be an adult trying to be funny! Maybe he
didn't think they would actually place it in the paper. The others seem to be
from children. And if you see errors in spelling, missing commas, etc. I am
placing these down as I see them written.

                             LETTERS TO SANTA CLAUS


"Dear Santa Claus; I am a little boy 39 years old and I want a rattler and a Jumping Jack and a bag of Duke's Mixture tobacco. Come soon as I will be in bed at 9 o'clock.

"Dear Santa Claus;
Please bring me a large doll, a box ribbons a bracelet a pretty story book and any thing else nice for a little girl. And dont forget my poor granny and my goodies. Your little girl, P. S. a pair of shoes.
